from this day forward until death do us part

According to the way famous psychologist Erik Erickson, all young adults reach a conflict called Intimacy vs. Isolation. In this stage of life if one is not able to seek out a companion/partner he or she will suffer from feelings of isolation. I certainly cannot believe in everything I read about theories concerning psychosocial developmental trends, but I agree with Eric Erickson on his eight stages of psychosocial development. Well I am a young adult and it just so happens that I meet a wonderful individual who I have known for quite some time now. His name is Chris and I have some pictures of him in my photo gallery. Anyway he proposed to me several months ago and we are going to marry in December. OMG I am getting married!!! But surely enough I am ready for it. According to Erickson I have two more stages to go: Generitivity vs. Stagnation (middle adulthood) and Ego Integrity vs. Despair (late adulthood). Luckily, I will get to spend the last two stages of my life with Chris.

  1. Hey Babe, I look forward to our wedding, even though it got pushed back again and again. Aren’t you happy we didnt just run off and get married last Summer? Things worked out better this time around.

Erickson comes across as a very innovative thinker. When I read the stages, it caused me to reflect on my own life. The stages seemed to fit in my case. Though I think he left out a couple conflicts that one reaches at the end of their life .. Hairpiece vs. Combover or Bedpan vs. Adult Diapers.
